Kia ora, I’m Dale, a waka hourua captain with a deep passion for voyaging, navigation, and te ao Māori. Since 2017, I’ve been privileged to sail across the Pacific, including voyages to Rarotonga, from Tahiti to Aotearoa, and countless coastal journeys around Te Ika-a-Māui. My experience includes time with Coastguard New Zealand and extensive involvement in waka and sailing kaupapa, combining practical skills with a love for the ocean and Māori traditions. Whether it’s voyaging, water safety, or training, I bring a wealth of expertise and dedication to every journey.
