I own and run my own home based Massage and Beauty Business on the Karikari Peninsula, near the Kaitaia township. I am a qualified Massage Therapist with 5 years experience, with a nursing background. I have worked in the customer service industry for over 35 years. I absolutely love my mahi, love working one on one with my clients and ensuring they feel a million dollars when they leave my care. I am passionate about hauora for my Maori people from my hāpu in particular. I began with our Kuia/Kaumatua but soon realised all our whanau need awhi. Many have chronic health issues and if the least I can provide is the feeling of being looked after then thats what I promote. I promote Te Whare Tapa Wha in our hauora, I have always felt that manaakitanga, aroha, awhi cost nothing but mean the world to our people. A bit of attention to the tinana helps too, and of course the wairua is important. All of these things are what we already know and provide to ourselves and others around us. Share the Love is what I say. My vision is to promote "Maori for Maori", tikanga, maori arts, maori i nga wa katoa to all our people, we know whats good for us and we dont need to rely on non maori to show us the way, we are the way !! He aha te mea nui o te Ao, he tangata, he tangata, he tangata!
WHAKAARO:
I produce my own rongoa oil, kawakawa infused oil. I am proud to say my sister will be joining me in my business to add value with her expertise in Maori arts, weaving and much knowledge in things Maori she has acquired in her vast mahi, particularly experience with whanau of all ages, especially Kuia and Kaumatua. I am currently training her in Deep Tissue Massage Therapy. She has many strings to her bow to add to the business of looking after our people.
